The best shoes from Target this season!

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX | SEVEN | EIGHT | NINE | TEN | ELEVEN

Target is one of my favorite places to buy shoes.  They are always on trend and often times an exact replica of a higher end shoe at a much better price.  I can't tell you how many great dupes, like the highly coveted Gucci fur lined mules above, I have come across browsing the shoe isles at Target!  From work to weekend, Target has everything you would ever need at affordable prices.

Target Black Suede Block Heel

Full outfit post here

I initially bought these black suede block heels for a wedding that I was in.  We had to walk on grass, gravel and cobblestone during the wedding and all of us girls bought these shoes for the wedding.  They were comfortable and the heel height was perfect for long term wear, which is what we needed.  They are great for both the work place or a night out!  The red suede pair would be stunning during the holidays!

This is the same block heel from above but in the leopard print.  I honestly loved my black suede ones so much that I had to have these too!  I love how the leopard can spice up a neutral outfit in a subtle and chic way.  These are the perfect heels to transition into fall.

Target Suede Loafer

I absolutely love these shoes.  They are a Steve Madden Loafer dupe and they are a quarter of the price!  I have both the Target and the Steve Madden Loafers.  They are identical and the Target ones are just as comfortable as the Steve Madden's, if not more!  They are extremely versatile and can go with just about anything.  If you're looking for more of a print, I both the leopard and the snake print that Target has out this fall!

How to dress when it's hot in the fall

This past weekend was a great representation of Fall in Georgia.  One day it's cold, rainy and makes you want to bundle up in front of the fire like you would imagine on a autumn day, only to be immediately followed by highs in the mid 70's and you question whether those brisk fall temperatures are ever going to stick around.  That was us.  Cold and rainy Saturday and by Sunday afternoon we were out wearing shorts, sweating and eating ice cream.
So that got me thinking...

How do you dress when it's hot in the Fall?

One of the best tips I can give is to prepare yourself for both seasons.  It's pretty normal for it to feel like winter in the morning and summer by afternoon around here.  I love to add layers to an outfit so that it's easy to accommodate both.  A sleeveless sweater provides a little bit of warmth with a heavier knit and with a light jacket or cardigan over top, you're all set.

Adding accessories to a Fall outfit

I also love to incorporate fall prints and accessories into my outfits around this time of year with belts, bags and shoes.  While leopard can most definitely be worn year round, it's true time to shine is really in the fall.  Accompanied by warm, rich tones, leopard print is the perfect compliment to bring together any fall outfit.  I added these adorable (and affordable!) leopard block heel to this classic neutral look to give it a trendy pop.  I love how the print of these heels warm up this outfit in a classy and subtle way.  I have these heels in a couple different colors and they are a great height for the office and comfortable too!  PS - they also come in a loafer!

The color you are seeing everywhere this season

There is no mistaking that cognac/camel is everywhere this Fall!  While I am loving all of the rich browns and warm tones, this color really stands out.  One thing that I like to do each season is check out Pantone's Color Trend Report.  This is basically a guide of what color schemes you will see on the runways at NY Fashion Week as well as the upcoming season.  When I saw the 2019/2020 Autumn Winter report, "Sugar Almond" caught my eye and I immediately knew that is would be a trending color!  Flattering on most all skin tones and easily paired with almost everything, I can't help but gravitate towards buying this shade when I see it.
While this cognac sweater can be paired with pretty much anything, I thought it would be fun to show a great way to transition your white jeans from Summer to Fall.  Complementary to both black and white, this color adds a little warmth to a chic look.  Adding the snake skin loafers to pull it all together, this outfit is perfect for a casual office look or even a classic weekend style.

How to arrange your Halloween wall bats

I found these 3D Halloween wall bats a few years ago and we have been decorating with them every year since!  They are always a huge hit here in our house and the kids get really excited when I get them out to decorate.  I can't even remember where I got them from because it was so long ago but this year I decided that it was time to add some new ones!

The arrangement is always the tricky part when it comes to putting the bats up.  It's difficult when you're up close to apply them and then once you take a step back, they don't really look the way you envisioned them.  I set out on Pinterest to get a lot of inspiration on what arrangement I wanted, being that there are so many.  During my install, I came up with a really simple and easy trick to getting the perfect wall bat arrangement!
Here you can see what my console table looks like prior to adding the bats.

How to arrange Halloween wall bats

The trick here is so simple.  Lay out your arrangement with blue painters tape!
Having this as a guideline helped me so much while I was putting my bats up.
After spending a little time gathering inspiration on Pinterest, I decided that I wanted my bats to look like they were coming out of one spot and dispersing.  I wanted them to gradually get bigger into a funnel type shape so that's what I laid out with the blue tape.  While I was laying out my tape guide, I stepped back a few times to check on the shape until I was happy with how it looked.

5 tips to arranging your wall bats

1. Start small

Wherever you have your bats starting, start with the smallest bats and gradually get bigger as your funnel grows.

2. Space the bats out

This one took me a little while to get them hang of!  I kept putting them close together and once I went back to my Pinterest inspo, I realized that spread out definitely looks better.

3. Create a flow

I like for my bats to all go in the same general direction but alternating the direction of the individual bats will create a nice movement within your flow of bats.  It helps to break things up a bit!

4. Use blue tape

I know I said above to use the blue tape as a guide in your arrangement but I also used it over the little stickies when I applied them to the wall.  The little stickies that come with the bats are really sticky and this limited me in moving my bats around until I had them where I wanted them.  The blue tape worked just as well and was much easier to remove and/or move around.  Besides, if you want to use these again for several years you will definitely use up all of your sticky squares that they come with.

5. Step back.  A LOT!

I can't stress this one enough!  I had to stop and stand back several times to see how things were looking.  I made several tweaks along the way and taking a second to step back will help with getting a good look at the big picture and make adjustments before getting too far in!

A casual chic way to wear a button down

There is nothing more classic than a white button down.  While it is definitely one of the more versatile pieces in a wardrobe, I love finding ways to wear one that I might not normally think about.  Pairing a crisp white button down with a pair of distressed denim and a sexy heel is a great way to wear a button down on a date or night out with the girls.  The button down gives a classic look yet the distressed denim and black quilted bag give the outfit just enough edge to feel chic and put together.  These jeans are on one my most worn pairs that I have.  They are the softest and most comfortable with just the right amount of distress.  I love pairing them with a simple white tank in the summer or an oversized sweater in the fall!
Jeans are a little long on me but I like them cuffed for a more casual look.  I'm 5'3" for reference.

How to wear a white blazer in the Fall

The summer to fall transition is one that most everyone looks forward to.  Burnt out from the summer heat, we are all welcoming the cooler temps and cozier clothes!  While everyone is hungry for warm tones, getting the most out wardrobe and specifically being able to carry individual pieces from season to season is what makes for a versatile closet.  Some people shy away from carrying their white over into fall but there's definitely a way to do it!  I love a good pop of white with dark neutrals.  I would normally layer my white blazer over a white or cream camisole in the summer but swapping it out for a warmer toned neutral is a great way to add a little more warmth to your outfit.  Paired with a sleek black trouser, this white blazer can make for a chic fall look!

September Instagram Recap

Here we are on October 1st!  This officially begins my favorite part of the year, the fourth quarter, starting with October and Halloween.  October is usually the month that the weather starts cooling down for us here in Atlanta and we can really start getting into all of the Fall clothes, decor and festivities.  But before we dive into that, let's take a look back at September and the last little bit of summer!

Labor Day weekend at The Hotel at Avalon

We did a family staycation at The Hotel at Avalon for Labor Day this year!  It's close to our house and such a fun place to eat, shop and stay the night.

We celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary!

"9 years ago we were just 2 kids, looking our very best, surrounded by friends and family.  We were nervous, giddy with excitement, head over heels in love and ready to party into the rest of our lives!  Today we are 2 exhausted parents, burnt out and watching time continue to rob us.  We spent today as we normally do with work, kids, karate, a late dinner, tantrums and a hectic bedtime schedule.  But as we looked back over the years, we laughed at how "in love" we thought we were.  So much has changed but what has changed the most is how our love has grown for one another.  Here's to forever with you."
