2015 Christmas Card

I have always had a fascination with color.  I love selecting colors for various things whether paint, nails, outfits, etc.  I look forward to Pantone releasing their color predictions for the upcoming year since most design trends seem to reflect their predictions pretty accurately.  When they announced that Marsala would be Pantone's Color of the Year for 2015, I wasn't really feeling it at the time.  During the holidays, there is nothing I love more than a festive holiday red so I was pretty disappointed knowing that shades of burgundy would override all other shades of red this season.  Well, I ended up being wrong because halfway through fall, I decided that I loved it!  Berry and navy quickly became a favorite color combination of mine for the past couple of months and ended up being my theme for our family pictures this year. And because I like to coordinate our envelopes to our picture, that theme carried out for that too.

Since having kids, I definitely don't have the time that I used to to be creative.  So this year I got a major head start on this project mostly so that I wasn't sending my Christmas cards out the week of Christmas like I did last year, but also because I really enjoy the opportunity to put the kids to bed and work on something for myself for once, without them insisting on helping me paint.  I know some of you are probably thinking I am crazy for spending so much time on something that will just get thrown away but releasing my creative energy is therapeutic for me and I am so happy with the way they turned out!
Pictures were taken by Stacy at Journeyography. (She is AWESOME!)  You can see more of them here and here.  Cards were designed by me using PicMonkey.

This past weekend, we took the kids to have brunch with my family and meet Santa.  We didn't take pictures with Santa last year and to be honest, I really can't remember why we didn't.  I'm assuming it was because we had just had Roman but who knows.  I wasn't sure how it was going to go this year considering Loyal usually gets pretty shy in situations like this.  Everyone was pretty hungry so we decided to eat first.  I casually mentioned Santa to Loyal throughout lunch and asked him if he was going to tell Santa that he wanted Paw Patrol for Christmas.  He shook his head yes with the sweetest little smile.  After we were finished eating we got up to go and see Santa.  There was only one person in front of us and Loyal seemed to be excited while we waited.  As soon as it was our turn, Loyal walked right up to Santa and let him pick him up and put him on his lap!  We were all SHOCKED!  He was still a little shy and stiff but he did manage to say to him ever so quietly, "I want Paw Patrol."  He was so sweet and my little Roman was just along for the ride, like always.  Haha!
