Lately

Have you ever gotten stuck in the shower?  Particularly when it's really cold out and water is just too warm to turn off so you just stand there under the running water for entirely too long.  That was me this morning.  Sadly, bathing for me has been reduced to baby wipes these days.  But this morning I was able to take a hot shower and it was glorious.  I kept turning the water hotter and hotter the longer I stood there.  I have been in such a rut this last week and after that shower, I felt like a whole new person!

Loyal came down with the flu on Saturday.  I can't remember ever having the flu myself but from what I saw him go through these past few days, I don't ever want it.  We had him quarantined off so that no one else got sick and thankfully, no one did.  Me and the kids have all had flu shots and I guarantee that Loyal will be the first to get one next year.  So with him being sick, I have been tackling both kids all day and all night.  I have to admit, it has taken the life out of me.  With Roman nursing every 2 hours and Lo refusing to nap or sleep through the night, it's been non stop.  Add to that the lack of communication with Lo, toddler tantrums and Roman being super gassy...it makes for some looooong days.  So yeah, the uninterrupted hot shower this morning was amazing and will hopefully get me out of this rut that I've been in.

Moving on...
About 2 or 3 weeks before my due date, we got a call to let us know that our house in New Orleans flooded!  A pipe burst in our downstairs powder room and flooded most of the first floor.  We drove down the next day to meet with a bunch of people in order to get the insurance process going.  There ended up being quite a bit of damage.  Our floors and baseboards have been ripped up, kitchen cabinets are gone, bathroom vanity is gone, walls need repainted...the list goes on.  We have decided to leave for New Orleans the weekend after Thanksgiving so that we can start the work to rebuild our downstairs.  The good news is that the work that we did when we spent a couple of months down there was all upstairs.  We had initially decided to focus on the bedrooms and worry about the downstairs next year.  We are definitely excited to have the kitchen done sooner than expected but talk about bad timing showing up with a toddler and a new born!  I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes.  We have been driving ourselves crazy trying to finalize kitchen plans and I can't wait to share what we've come up with!  In the meantime, here a few pics from the last couple of weeks...
And this is what happens when you don't nap.  Out cold at the grocery store!

  1. So that shower you described? Definitely happened for me on Tuesday morning. I was late to work because of it! This cold weather and my desperate need for some peace and quiet....
