Ladies Man

Consider this a warning to all future girlfriends: this little ladies man is going to be breaking hearts one day.  Including mine.
I mean, this face!  I can't even handle it.
My mom and I took him to the park this past weekend.  I put him in the swing for the first time, not really knowing what to expect.  He can't quite sit up on his own yet and the swing was a little big for him so I didn't think it would go over very well.  He actually really liked it!  I didn't push him very hard so he just sat there really relaxed, if you can't tell.  He watching all of the bigger kids running around playing.  I think he wanted to go and play too.  It makes me sad to think that those days will be here before we know it.  I'm just going to soak up every single moment of these sweet baby days until then.

Burt's Pumpkin Farm

Loyal and I went to Burt's Pumpkin Farm last year and ever since, we have been so excited to take the little babe this year.  We had so much fun picking out his outfit, which had to be perfect.  I was just praying that it didn't get messed up on the way there.  There were so many families there and seeing all of the kids running around made me really excited for the years to come.  I can see this definitely being a yearly tradition for us!  Anyway, we got a bunch of pictures, a few pumpkins and had ourselves a perfect little picnic.  Talk about a great day!
I think he was more interested in his new shoes.
Couldn't think of a better use for my new basket!  I see a lot more picnics in our future with the cooler weather ahead.

Loyal's Birthday

My husband is not one for big celebrations. He's much more comfortable staying under the radar, if you know what I mean, and especially when his dreaded birthday rolls around. He seriously hates his birthday and hates getting older.  In the 6 years we've been together, he has NEVER once told my sister his actual age. It's always "25, I think" or "who's counting?"  So last night we had a very small, low key dinner, Mexican of course, and we had the best time!  It was one of those nights that you wake up the next morning a little sad that the nights over, minus the hangover (which I escaped, thanks to breast feeding). :)  Anyway, it was an awesome birthday. After several margaritas, we started telling embarrassing stories, laughed so hard we could hardly stand it and definitely made some more memories that we will laugh about next year.

I always try to make his birthday special to hopefully make it a little less dreaded. A couple of weeks ago, Loyal told me that, much to my surprise, "all he's ever wanted for his birthday was a cookie cake and I've NEVER gotten him one."  Well, that was news to me. I mean, had I known it was so life or death, I would have certainly got one before now. Well last night his dreams came true.  After a few mishaps and close calls, I somehow pulled off the huge surprise and had one waiting for him at the restaurant. He was honestly blown away when the waitress brought it out. I wish I had a picture of his expression because it was priceless.
Thanks to a few too many Rita's, everyone got pizza slice-sized pieces of cake, some upside down on the plate. :/

Happy Birthday to my husband, my baby daddy and my BFF. Without you, my life would be pretty boring babe. Here's to forever, a lot more birthdays and many more cookie cakes! (He's still talking about the cookie cake by the way.)

Pawley's Island

This past weekend my sister and I went to Pawley's Island, SC.  My aunt has a beach house there and most of our family went for a mini family reunion.  We had such a great time.  We walked on the beach.  Played cards.  Stayed up too late.  Laughed so hard we almost cried.  Indulged in some of Grandma's recipes.  And most importantly, made some great memories.  Kelli: Madonna?
Walks on the beach do it to him every time.  The sound of the waves, the breeze, the movement, the closeness...knocks him right out.
{and I don't mind one bit!}

Goat Island:
Goats live on this island.  You can see one on the right side.  It's kind of a weird concept that brought so many questions.  Who's are they?  How did they get on the Island?  What do they do when a hurricane comes?  Why?  Apparently someone does own them and they come and get them every winter to take them to shelter.  The fisherman told us it's a riot watching them running, tripping, falling through the marsh to try to catch them.

This face kills me.
Pure happiness right there, that's what life's about.

Hello October!

I love fall so much.  I really do.  There's just something about it.  Maybe the crisp mornings, the warmer clothes, the upcoming holidays or maybe it's just the extra snuggles that go around.  The mornings lately have been getting more and more crisp, closer to feeling like fall.  I've been looking forward to the cooler weather ahead and being able to spend more time outside.  I just can't help but reminisce around this time of year...
Remember this picture?  I just can't decide if this feels more like yesterday or like it was forever ago.  Brings back so many memories.  I was so excited to go and get our pumpkin family.  The entire time we were there, we talked about how much fun it will be with the baby the next year and kids in the future.  Even though I am so excited for the upcoming festivities and holidays, sometimes I get sad thinking about this time last year.  It was such a great time for us, pregnant with our first baby.  There was so much we had to look forward to, which we still do, but when you're pregnant it's just a different kind of anticipation I guess.  Sometimes I miss it a little.  Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?  Anyway, this was just something that was on my mind today as I was washing his Halloween clothes that I bought last year.  We can't wait to take Little Loyal to the pumpkin patch this year!  I know he is going to love it.  He has become so curious and inquisitive about everything.  He's going to love all of the colors and I'm sure he will try to take a bite out of every pumpkin!
We were in need of some new bedtime books so we did a little shopping yesterday.  We still need a few more but we definitely found some good ones.  If You Give a Mouse a Cookie was one of my favorites growing up.  I had no idea there was a pumpkin version!  Goodnight Goon was a good find, which, by the way, is very boyish.  Lots of monsters and goblins and other scary things.  Not really my cup of tea but I do have a boy.

Fall Festival

Growing up, we always went to the Fall Festival in my home town.  Every year.  There were some years that I was in the parade and other years that I just went to watch and eat the candy that they throw.   Either way, it was always a good time.  My mom and I took the baby this year and it definitely brought back a ton of memories.  We decided to skip the parade because I was afraid that the loud noises would most likely scare the little guy.  I did get a quick peak of the parade and got chills when the military got a standing ovation as they passed.  My mom and I walked around, browsed all of the booths and of course, indulged in some festival food.  How could you not?
^ This John Deere was churning ice cream!
^This beauty came home with me!  Picnic anyone?
Not one for nick-nacks, but these were so cute!
I knew King of Pops was going to be there so I had to have one.  I went with Coconut Banana Orange this time.  Ok but not as good as Chocolate Sea Salt.

Weekend Recap

Last weekend was a great one.  On Saturday, my mom and I decided to skip the market and go down to Buckhead to have lunch with my sister.  When we got to her house, I had to feed the babe and change him. I set him down on the bed and that boy rolled over twice! 2 complete roll overs, like a champ!  We had been working on it but arms kept getting in the way.  After the roll over party, we braced the rain and headed out to lunch.
Oh, this caesar was so goooooood. After taking almost a year off while I was pregnant, this salad hit the spot. So did the sandwich that I slammed before I could even get a picture.  Big thanks to aunt Kel and Grammy for letting this mama eat an entire meal babe-less!

After lunch we went over to Anthropology for a little shopping, which happened to be when the monsoon hit. I didn't mind a bit because they had PUPS there!!!!  It was pet adoption day, WITH snacks!
Between the sweet little pit mix and the mugs, I was in heaven.

Saturday night was our family night out. Sushi, for the second time this week. Just catching up on all of the foods that get neglected during pregnancy, such a shame to go so long without.

Sunday was a big day for my little fam. We spent the entire day out and about, making purchases for our house. We got little man all of his furniture for the nursery, which is now sitting in boxes in my moms house. Oh, we are so ready to get down to New Orleans and start setting up.  I just have a couple more small items left to get before his nursery is done. Super exciting.
But, the highlight of the day was making this handsome fella ours! It's going in the dining room...which I just might end up sleeping in if this is what I'll be looking up at. :)
Happy Anniversary to us!
